Privacy policy

Translation notice. This is an English translation of the Spanish original, provided for convenience. In the event of any discrepancy, the Spanish version at singla.day/privacidad prevails.

The honest summary: what you write in Singla — your tasks, your notes, your projects, your categories and your times — never leaves your device. There are no accounts, there is no server to store it on, and there is nothing for me to read. The only thing sent out is anonymous usage statistics, with no cookies and no way to identify you, and you can block those.

1. Who the controller is

Singla (singla.day) is a personal project by Paco Aranda López, in Marbella (Málaga), Spain. For anything related to this policy, including the full postal address if you need it for formal correspondence, write to hola@singla.day.

2. The data that is NOT collected

This is the important part, so it goes first. Singla does not collect, does not transmit and does not store on any server:

The titles of your tasks, their notes, their projects or their dates.
The names of your categories or their colours.
Your time entries, your interruptions or your focus blocks.
Your name, your email, your phone number or any account identifier: there are no accounts.

All of that lives exclusively in your device’s browser storage (IndexedDB for the data and localStorage for preferences such as the theme, the sound or the language). If you uninstall the app or clear your browser data, it is gone — and there is no copy anywhere else, mine included. That is why it is worth using “Export data” now and then: the file downloads to your device and never passes through any server.

3. Anonymous usage statistics

To know which parts of Singla get used and which ones are dead weight, the published version loads Umami, an open-source analytics tool. What that means exactly:

It uses no cookies or any other form of storage on your device.
It creates no user identifiers and no profiles, and it does not track you across websites. There is no way to tell that two visits are the same person.
Only action names and counts are sent: for example tarea-crear, tarea-iniciar, interrupcion, vista-datos, exportar or apoyar. Never the content of what you write.
Aggregated technical data about the visit is also recorded (page, approximate country, device type and browser, and where the link came from).
It only runs on the published version, not when I develop locally.

The provider is Umami Software, Inc. (Umami Cloud), acting as a data processor. If you would rather not appear even in those anonymous counts, any content blocker or private browsing mode prevents it, and the app works exactly the same.

4. Hosting

The website and the app are served from Vercel. Like any web server, Vercel keeps technical logs of the requests it receives (IP address, date, page requested and browser) in order to serve the pages and protect itself from abuse. It is a technical log, not a profile, and it is not cross-referenced with anything.

5. If you decide to buy me a coffee

The “Buy me a coffee” button takes you to Ko-fi, a third-party site. If you leave me a tip, the payment data is handled by Ko-fi and its payment processor (Stripe) under their own privacy policies. I see the amount, the name or alias you used and your message if you leave one; I do not see, receive or store your card details at any point. It is entirely voluntary and it is not needed to use Singla.

6. Cookies

Singla sets no cookies, neither its own nor third-party ones, for analytics or for advertising. That is why you will not see a cookie banner: there is nothing to consent to. What it does use is your browser’s local storage, to keep your own data and preferences — which is what makes the app work, and it does not leave your device.

7. Advertising and selling data

There is no advertising in Singla and there will not be. No data is sold, transferred or shared with third parties for commercial purposes. It would not be possible even if I wanted to: I do not have it.

8. Your rights

The General Data Protection Regulation grants you the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection. In practice, with Singla:

Access and portability: the “Export data” button in the Data tab hands you everything of yours in a standard file, instantly and without asking me.
Erasure: clear the site data in your browser, or uninstall the app. Since I hold no copy, there is nothing left to delete anywhere else.
Rectification: edit it inside the app itself; the data is yours and you are the one in control of it.

For any privacy question, write to hola@singla.day. If you believe I have not handled it properly, you can lodge a complaint with the Spanish Data Protection Agency.

9. Minors

Singla is not specifically aimed at children under 14 and collects no identifying data about anyone, so it does not process children’s data.

10. Changes to this policy

If any of this changes — for example the day sync between devices arrives, which will need an account — this page will be updated with its date and it will be announced in the app’s own release notes. Nothing that lives on your device today will start leaving it without being told first and choosing it yourself.
